Can Non-US Residents Play Powerball?

Citizenship and ticket-purchase location are different questions. A non-US resident may be able to buy a ticket while lawfully present in a selling jurisdiction, but remote third-party purchases require additional checks.

Important: Lottery availability, age requirements and online-purchase rules vary by jurisdiction. This page is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Buying while visiting

Powerball is sold through participating jurisdictions. A visitor can generally buy at an authorised retailer where sales are permitted, subject to local age and other rules.

Remote access is different

Third-party websites may use courier or messenger arrangements. Their availability does not by itself prove that the underlying lottery will recognise every transaction.

Check the selling lottery

Prize claims are administered through the lottery jurisdiction that sold the ticket. That jurisdiction's rules matter for eligibility, validation, taxes and claim procedures.

Avoid location workarounds

Do not use VPNs or false address information to circumvent location restrictions. Doing so can create account and prize-claim problems.
